Green Disk

I found this great company called Green Disk that will recycle my technology trash. Unfortunately, their site is a bit klunky. When trying to place an order, I received the following error:

Credit Card Authorization Failed. The following field(s) are invalid: (totalGrand)

For some reason, the items I had ordered did not save to my shopping cart. I was able to overcome this issue by clicking “update cart” before checking out. This saved the items in my cart, and allowed me to place the order. I’m posting this because I get the sense that many users are experiencing the same problem (based on my conversation with green disk tech support). I like what they are doing at Green Disk, so I am hoping this post will help someone else to use their site. Maybe Green Disk will read this and actually fix the problem.

You can also drop off your monitor and/or PC at any Southeastern WI or Metro Chicago store for free. They are now partnered with a e-cycling company that actually pays GW a small fee for each item collected. (They salvage the copper and metals used inside)

Everyone wins… you get your old PC junk taken off your hands and Goodwill gets some money for their programs and service to help individuals with barriers gain employment.

Whoops, guess I should have proof read first. You can drop it off at a “Goodwill” Southeastern WI or Metro Chicago store. Sorry.

My town office gave an insertion to the newspapers once, that if we call there, or write an e-mail with a list of all the electronic things we want to recycle, they come right to your house or flat and take it away completely for free. I do not understand those, who want money for things that should be recycled. If they want money, it seems fishy to me. If they really recycle, they use our trash as a raw, so they will earn money from it without any investment into the raw. So when they want money for your trash, that means, that they want just earn more and more, or they are not recycling the things. That would be not the first time, when they say, that the things are going to be recycled, but the truth is, that they just take it to India and there they throw it away.
But who knows. I heard that in America, you have to pay even if you want to recycle paper!!! here you can throw them into bins for paper, or you even can sell your used paper, so you do not have to pay, THEY WILL PAY YOU!!!
