Sustainable Energy in Motion Bike Tour
I received a message from a blog reader about the Sustainable Energy in Motion Bike Tour.
The goal of the bike trips : “to inspire individuals to walk away empowered to make positive changes in the world. Our mission is to inspire, empower, and thus facilitate social change for a better world”.
It sounds like a great program, so I thought I would give them a little promotion. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be riding, since I live in Milwaukee and have never ridden a bike that far before.

I would not recommend the Sustainable Energy in Motion Bike Tours. I was on the ride the summer of 2006. I would not recommend the ride as I was hungry during the trip because not enough food was provided. I am a Colorado rider and know how important food is for an enjoyable ride. I also felt that unsafe because I had no maps for the trip. We traveled in pairs and many people did get lost because the leaders provided incomplete directions and no maps. I was very concerned someone would get lost and injured. The discussions were one-sided and often not relevent to sustainablity, which is why I went. For a group that promotes democracy on paper, democracy was no where during the process of deciding something as simple as what was for dinner. The ride decisions and discussions were dictated and lectured to the riders. Sure the ride sounds good on paper, but I would not recommend the trip because of safety, comfort, and democracy concerns.
