Sunrise Children’s Village

Yesterday, we spent the afternoon at Sunrise Children’s Village in Entebbe. Sunrise Children’s Village is a home for orphans. Most of the orphans were created by the conflict in the Northern part of Uganda. There are currently 60 children at the village in Entebbe, and 32 children at the village in the northern part of Uganda. The lady who runds Sunrise, Victoria, was gracious enough to show us around the village. A few friends of mine spent some time earlier this year volunteering at Sunrise. They are working with Sunrise through their organization here in the US: Ripple Effect. Sunrise should have their own website soon. Currently, Victoria is working on a few initiatives, including setting up an internet cafe, to create a source of revenue for the vilage, and creating a clinic for the village and the surrounding community. If anyone is interested in contributing, I can put you in touch with my friends at Ripple Effect.
