Kampala Is A Riot

Serious pun intented there. Apparently I just missed some serious rioting in Kampala. The presidential elections are coming up in Uganda, and the opposition leader was in Kampala. I don’t have a lot of background on it, but apparently he was arrested, and that is what set off the riots? I’ll do some more reading and find out. Anyway, I timed that very well. In general, I feel very safe in Kampala. There are soldiers with guns in the city, so I guess that should keep things in order.

On the lighter side, the roads here in Uganda (as well as the rest of Africa) are so bad, that the local newspaper has a picture of the “pothole of the day”. I’m not making that up.

hey man. Nice to hear that you haven’t yet (and hopefully won’t) become a statistic–”American does something stupid in foreign country–get’s injured, etc.” Sounds like you’re having fun. Happy birthday–30 isn’t that old. Pothole of the day–we need that here in Milwaukee. Incidentally, it’s snowing–2-4″ of the fluffy white stuff–enough to shovel on Nov. 25th !! The undefeated team lost to Potassium in Ultimate tuesday–don’t know if your team won or not. Enjoy the rest of your trip and get home safely.
