I’ve arrived in Arusha
The second attempt at my flight was successful - I made it in one piece. It is now the morning of my second day here. I am in the office of my friend’s organization UVIWA. Spent a good portion of yesterday walking and riding bikes. We set out to purchase two bikes for UVIWA. We walked for quite some time because we weren’t totally sure of the location of the place we were to purchase the bikes. I wasn’t prepared for so much time in the sun, so I am a bit burnt. The benefit was that I was so exhausted, I slept very well last night, and I’m over my jet-lag now.
The one thing I’ve noticed about Arusha since I’ve been here is the amount of development going on. Quite a few higer-end apartments and houses being built. Though, I don’t think the economic benefits of all this development are getting to the people at the bottom the economic ladder. There really is almost no middle class here. Just the very poor and the wealthy.
