Fighting Bob Fest

I spent part of the day on Saturday at Fighting Bob Fest.  It is an annual event held at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in my hometown of Baraboo.  Essentially it is a progressive gathering, with the usual stuff like speakers, booths, etc.  I was happy to see a big turnout, close to 5,000 people attended, despite the extreme heat on Saturday.

While I enjoyed Fighting Bob Fest, and I definitely liked the people, I found that I didn’t usually agree with how they wanted to make changes.  For example, one of the booths contained information about a proposed Department of Peace.  At first, I thought "what a great idea".  But after about 10 seconds of thinking about it, I realized what a terrible idea it really was.  While I’m about as big a peace-nik as you will find, another government bureaucracy is not going to help anything.  What happens when the Department of Peace decides that a conflict is justified?  There is a very serious conflict of interest here.  Anyway, that is all the time that I have to rant on this subject.
