Pabst City plan defeated!
Fortunately for Milwaukee, the common council voted against the $41 million in city financing for the Pabst City development plan. No (additional) government-subsidized entertainment venues for Milwaukee at the moment. Recently the Riverside Theatre closed, citing unfair competition from the Milwaukee Theatre, which was renovated with money from bonds issued by the city. Obviously you can read about the Pabst City decision anywhere, the reason I decided to blog this is that the plan was defeated with the help of Citizens for Responsible Government (CRG). This is the group that helped oust County Executive Ament in the pension scandal a few years back. You can read all about it in this article. What I found most interesting was what the House of Blues has done in other cities. Apparently they haven’t exactly lived up to their promises. Anyway,I definitely plan on checking out the CRG Network. Maybe they can do something about my outrageously high property taxes. ![]()

YOUR property taxes?? You haven’t paid any yet! Just wait!
I agree..I’m happy that plan was defeated. Check into the House of Blues stuff. That place doesn’t draw anyone, especially after the first year or two. Hopefully, they’ll be a much better plan presented because I’d like to see SOMETHING done with that area.
